He probably trained in Amsterdam and Haarlem, as his works show a good knowledge of Dutch still life painting. He was a member of the art guild of Hamburg from 1681. His works are held in various museums in Germany, including the Hamburg Museum of Arts and Crafts and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin.
